Organic agriculture, also known as organic farming, is a crop rotation system that originated in the 20th century. This method primarily relies on organic fertilizers such as manure from livestock, poultry manure, green manure, compost, bone meal, blood meal… to improve soil fertility. It emphasizes crop rotation techniques, biological pest control, intercropping, and discouraging or encouraging the presence of animals as natural enemies of pests. Organic farming standards are designed to allow farmers to use natural compounds and prohibit or limit the use of synthetic substances in farming.
